What’s a LAN Party?
LAN Parties are geared towards people who enjoy playing computer games. CentralanUK provides a fast network for all these gamers to connect and play various multiplayer games against each other. Each participant brings their PC, connects it to our network and then can play for the whole event.
The advantage of a LAN party over playing games on the internet is the social aspect. LAN’s give gamers a chance to meet friends from games or online communities. If you haven’t been to a LAN party before or you are attending on your own, don’t worry, LAN’s are a friendly place and everyone is there for the same reason.
Other Activities at CentralanUK
Not all our events are the same. Depending on the time of year we add extra activities to the LAN’s. We have a 4 day LAN party over Bank Holiday, our summer LANs have BBQ’s and we do Halloween in style! These are just a few examples but more information on each of these events will be posted on our website and forums.
Age Limits
We ask that anyone under the age of 16 brings a consent form with them to the event. This is available from our website. If a venue has a bar then we use a wristband systems that helps bar staff identify anyone under the age of 18. CentralanUK events are for everyone to enjoy but safety is also important to us. If you have any questions then you can contact one of the event managers and they will be happy to help you.
Costs and Payments
When you sign up to an event your place isn’t secure until it’s been confirmed with a payment. The cost for events is displayed on the website and when you signup. You can also add extra services, such as an extra connections and monitor rental. When you signup you can pick what else you would like and then you will see the amount for that event. Paypal, Credit/Debit Card, Cheque, Bank Transfer are all accepted. Payment options are listed once you have signed up.
What do I need to bring?
Computer - You will need to bring you computer and all of its cables. Base unit, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Headphones, power cables & 4 Way, Game and system CDS/DVDS are the basics. You must bring a 4 way as you are only provided with one power socket. A network cable is provided for you. Note speakers are not allowed.
Personal items – Everything you would normally take if you were going away for the weekend. A change of clothes and washing /wash bag/towel are essential. Also some money for food and drinks at the events.
Sleeping – You will also need a sleeping bag and pillow. At some events we have camping space so a small tent can be used. If it’s indoor sleeping then please only bring a single airbed unless you plan on sharing!
This gives you an idea of things you would need to bring to an event.
Sleeping at the event
Sleeping at the events depends on a few things. We also have some indoor sleeping, this could be a separate room/rooms or space in the main hall. At some venues we have space for tents if you enjoy sleeping outside! We do ask that if you are sleeping inside and plan on bringing an airbed that it’s a single unless you want to share with someone else.
Washing Facilities
All our venues have toilets and washing facilities close to the main hall. Our venues also have showers; opening times and availability will be listed on the website and our intranet at the events.
Food and Drink
You can bring your own food and drink. At some events Alcoholic drinks must be purchased from the bar. Also you must be 18 or over to buy or bring your own Alcoholic drinks. Anyone ignoring this can be removed from the event. CentralanUK has a selection of soft drinks and snacks available at the events. We also organise pizza delivery at our events through our intranet system. This is then delivered to your desk.We also have a list of local places to eat with menus at the events.
For more information on what will be available at each event have a look at the website and forums.
